How many tiles do you need? Calculating tile quantities for your project
Ordering the right tile quantity saves money and avoids mid-project stock runs. Here is the quick method our trade customers use.
1. Measure the area
Multiply the length by the width of the floor or wall in metres to get square metres (m2). For walls, remember to subtract doors and windows.
2. Check the tile coverage
Each product page shows the tile size and pieces per box. For example, a 400x400mm tile covers 0.16m2 per piece. Divide your area by the coverage per box to get boxes needed.
3. Add 10% wastage
Add 10% for cuts, breaks and future repairs. For diagonal layouts or herringbone patterns, use 15%.
Example
A 20m2 floor using 400×400 tiles (10 pieces per box, 1.6m2 per box): 20 / 1.6 = 12.5 boxes, plus 10% wastage = about 14 boxes.
Tip: use the coverage calculator on our tile product pages, or send us your measurements on WhatsApp and we will work it out for you.
